SEW’s ‘Year of the Story’ series continues with Monumentaries event

The Tri-Lakes-based Social Emotional Wellness (SEW) Coalition, a nonprofit organization with the goal of promoting mental health awareness and providing resources, continued its ‘Year of the Story’ series in March by screening student-created documentaries at Lewis-Palmer High School.

A weekend event, titled “Monumentaries,” put a spotlight on Colorado student-made documentaries focused on mental health, suicide, eating disorders, and more. Attendees were sorted into either youth or adult viewing groups and participated in small group discussions about the documentaries and personal experiences with mental health. A student panel also fielded questions.

Each documentary was made by a student in the Youth Documentary Academy, including Zoe Williams, who attended the event and shared a trailer for her upcoming documentary. The event also held a raffle for various prizes and provided breakfast, lunch, and swag bags for volunteers and participants.
