State Champs: LPHS Men’s Basketball team claims victory over Pueblo South to earn 4A State Championship

Buoyed by teamwork and great communication, the Lewis-Palmer High School Men’s Basketball team rode a winning streak to the state championship game, ultimately emerging as victors.

Only a day after crushing Pueblo Central in a 79 to 65 victory on March 11, LPHS earned a place in the history books by topping Pueblo South 61 to 53 in a hard-fought matchup at the Denver Coliseum.

Head Coach Bill Benton lauded his team leading up to the game, calling them hard workers and great communicators.

“We have so many good kids and that’s what makes this group special and dangerous,” Benton said.

Benton and his team will be honored at an upcoming Board of Education meeting for their accomplishments in the 2022 season.
