Finalists named for National Merit Scholarship

Three Lewis-Palmer High School students are in the final leg of competition for a prestigious nationwide scholarship after being named finalists for the National Merit® Scholarship Program.

Anna Icke, Davis Saunders and Allison Sobers were notified in 2021 that they were named among 16,000 high school students in the U.S. to be named semifinalists in part due to their academic achievement and test scores out of more than 1.5 million who were considered.

“I’m so proud of all of our Lewis-Palmer High School Rangers, and Anna, Davis and Allison are incredible representatives for our school and district,” said Bridget O’Connor, LPHS Principal. “Their academic and extracurricular accomplishments are something to be proud of, and being named finalists for this scholarship is a tribute to all of their hard work, talent and drive for success.”

As the three Lewis-Palmer Rangers move forward, they will be reviewed by the 2021 scholarship committee for consideration for a $2,500 scholarship award. Only 7,500 students earn this honor each year.

The nationwide scholarship, which was founded in 1955, is regarded as one of the purest merit-based programs offered in the U.S.
